What happened to Latin, the origin of romance languages?

According to LatinLanguages, Latin or Latium was the language originally spoken in Rome. Partially through French, about 80% of the English vocabulary is derived from Latin. Although it's not known for sure how Latin disappeared, after the fall of the Roman empire, the romance languages came into existence. If you're interested in linguistics or the origin of English words, then it would be worth researching these other languages and how they evolved from Latin.

What languages are important for a career?

Investopedia , a site that gobs of information relating to the economy, lists a few languages that are valuable right now, to learn for your career. It also makes the point that along most skills, it's affected by the law of supply and demand. This means that even though Spanish might be the second most spoken language in the U.S., it might be better on your resume to speak something else. Now, you could go out and learn a bunch of languages and get good at one (maybe), but before you decide to pursue one there are some things to think about. The first one is if it's important for the language to be easy. A couple things you can find out about a language to see if it's easy or not is if it's a Latin Language and if it uses the same script (123...abcd...). It helps to have a language be Latin because some of the words will be similar. But, if you don't limit yourself to easy to learn languages, it's much better because then you can gain insight to many cultures.
